Tour Eiffel - Paris (June 2012)

Untitled

We often travel with the objectives to find the best restaurants, hunt for bargains or even to find the best location to photograph (with) iconic structures as an alternative to having a signboard saying "I was here." Hey, I am guilty as such at times but is that the best way to experience a city, to understand the culture and ... travel in general? It is an open-ended question for all of us to think about but my recent trip to London and Paris, I tried something different, I travel without my DSLR and only with my iPhone with me. Yes I mentioned about that in my previous post but in additional to illustrate smartphone photography as a valid category of photography, I wanted to travel through my own eyes and not through the viewfinder.

In the case of Paris, sitting at cafe by the street, having a cup of double espresso and eating my favourite sweets from Pierre Herme .... for 1.5 hours without any real plans what to do next and observing the way of life in the neighbourhood were few of the best travel activities in my opinion. There is no need to be in a rush during your travel, take your time, enjoy the moment, enjoy the atmosphere. I strongly recommend you to try these sort of activities on your next vacation!

Jason,
You will find a very nice apple crumble at Intercontinental Hotel in Hong Kong. You should order in takeout since it all you like from there.

We follow the ways of wolves, the habits of tigers: or, rather we are worse than they. To them nature has assigned that they should be thus fed, while God has honoured us with rational speech and a sense of equity. And yet we are become worse than the wild beast. Looking at your pictures made me want to get a property for sale in Paris. Its my lifelong dream to live in a place like that, a place with a rich heritage and culture.

Nice shots with the landmarks. I love the photo effects embedded there. Brings out the whimsical romance of Paris. I will try to replicate the savana for our holidays to zanzibar this year.

A trip to Paris would be incomplete if you missed to drop by the Eiffel Tower. It is fitting that sweets is also a must try in the city of love.

Paris would have to be on any list when it comes to experience and food. Just by walking in the streets of this city, you will something different. It's the ambiance that no other city has. Its not a mystery on why many men propose in Paris.

One thing, Paris will always be the most romantic and passionate place in France. Once you visit the place, it's seems as though it's so hard for you to leave it.

Well, in a few months I will be able to experience the magic of Paris too! We already booked a hotel and we are set to go November of this year. Just thinking about it makes me so excited.

That is almost a perfect view of the tower. How lucky are the people that reside close to this historic infrastructure, they can see the beauty of the tower any time they want to.
